Lieutenant Governor invites Ontarians to sign Books of Condolence in memory of tsunami victims

TORONTO, Jan. 5 /CNW/ - The Hon. James K. Bartleman invites Ontarians to
sign Books of Condolence to honour the memory of victims of the recent
earthquake and tsunamis in Asia. Books of Condolence will be available to the
public at the Lieutenant Governor's Suite at Queen's Park on Thursday and
Friday, January 6-7 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and on Saturday 8 January from
10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
The Lieutenant Governor has invited the Premier, the Hon. Dalton
McGuinty, and diplomatic representatives of countries affected by the tragedy,
to launch the signing the Books of Condolence at 9:00 AM on Thursday 6 January
at the Lieutenant Governor's Suite at Queen's Park. Media are welcome.
"Today we live in a global village," said Mr Bartleman. "The pain of
people far away is felt everywhere. Many Ontarians have lost loved ones in the
tragedy in Asia, and theirs is a grief we can all share. In the wake of the
earthquake and tsunamis, Ontarians want to reach out to help. Their generous
and heart-felt response reminds us that compassion knows no borders."

IN TORONTO - Members of the public who wish to sign the Books of
Condolence are advised to enter the Legislative Building via the main
entrance that faces south toward University Avenue, and proceed to the
second-floor entrance to the Lieutenant Governor's Suite.

ACROSS ONTARIO - To give Ontarians in other regions an opportunity to
participate, Books of Condolence will be available at all Ontario
Government Information Centres from Monday to Friday, January 10-14,
during business hours. For locations, visit www.serviceontario.ca or call
    1-800-267-8097.
