Celebration To Include Citizenship Ceremony QUEEN'S PARK, June 22 /CNW/ - For the second year in a row Ontario's Canada Day celebration at Queen's Park will include a citizenship ceremony. "I invite Ontarians to join the Canada Day celebrations at Queen's Park to celebrate Canada's birthday and show their pride in our province and our country," said Mike Colle, Ontario Minister of Citizenship and Immigration. "I can't think of a better way to recognize the day than by seeing newcomers become Canadian citizens and spending the day with family and friends on the lawns of the Ontario legislature." The child friendly celebrations run from 12:15 p.m. to 5 p.m. All activities and entertainment are free. The day begins with the citizenship ceremony at 11 a.m. The official kick off takes place at 12 noon and includes a 21 gun salute and the singing of O Canada. The rest of the day's events include a wide array of stage performances - including a Cuban salsa/jazz house band - that showcase Ontario's diversity. There's fun for the kids with inflatable rides, an arts and crafts centre, face painters, carnival games, strolling performers and much more. Picnicking on the lawns is encouraged. Multicultural food and beverages are available at market prices. << The following road closures will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.: - Queen's Park Crescent East between Wellesley Street West, Grosvenor and College Streets; - Queen's Park Crescent West at Hoskin Avenue and College Street; - Grosvenor Street from Queen's Park Crescent East to Surrey Place.
