McGuinty Government Keeping Bridges And Highways In Top Condition TORONTO, May 9 /CNW/ - NEWS Construction work is planned on Highway 35 in the Townships of Algonquin Highlands and Minden Hills this summer to improve road safety and driving conditions. << Work includes: - Repaving Highway 35 for 3.8 kilometres in selected areas - Repairing the Beech River, Kennisis River and the Ox Narrows bridges. >> The $5.2-million construction contract was awarded to Miller Paving Limited of Markham and is expected to be complete by fall 2009. During construction, drivers on Highway 35 will have to share a single lane as directed by temporary traffic lights or a flag-person (http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/traveller/constructionzone.htm). Drivers may occasionally have to travel on a gravel surface. A popular recreation route, traffic volumes grow to 4,100 in the summer. - The province's $400-million Municipal Roads and Bridges Fund - announced in the 2008 Ontario Budget - is helping municipalities invest in critical projects across the province.
