Ontario Improving Accessible Parking For Motorcyclists

McGuinty Government Making The Province More Accessible

    TORONTO, May 22 /CNW/ -

    NEWS

Ontario is making it easier for people with disabilities to use their
motorcycles. As of May 26, 2008, motorcyclists will have a new visible
accessible parking permit sticker
(http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/dandv/vehicle/app_motorcycle.htm) to place
directly on their licence plate. The new sticker will complement the existing
placard permit.
Instead of leaving the permit on their motorcycle - which is a privacy
and theft concern - motorcyclists will now be required to carry the permit
with them and may need to present it if asked by an enforcement officer.
Ontario's accessible parking permit supports the McGuinty government's
commitment to make Ontario fully accessible by 2025.

    QUOTES

"Motorcyclists with disabilities will no longer need to worry about their
permit being stolen or damaged. Ontario is removing barriers for people with
disabilities," said Transportation Minister Jim Bradley
(http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/about/minister.htm).
"These new parking permit stickers will help give motorcyclists with
disabilities more peace of mind and allow them to protect their privacy," said
Community and Social Services Minister Madeleine Meilleur
(http://www.mcss.gov.on.ca/mcss/english/ministry/minister/).
