Repairs Part Of McGuinty Government's Plan To Keep Ontario Infrastructure
In Top Condition

The northbound express lanes, ten bridges and retaining walls on Highway
427 will be repaired this summer. This is the third of five projects worth
about $127 million needed to maintain Highway 427 - from the QEW to Highway
401 - in a good state of repair. The first project was completed in 2005; the
second will be finished in 2008.
The $21.9-million construction contract was awarded to Brennan Paving &
Construction Limited of Markham and should be completed by 2010. Construction
will be done with extended nightly lane closures. Lanes will be kept closed
for 10 hours per night instead of eight so that more work can be completed
overnight. This will reduce the total number of nightly closures required
during the project. Drivers may experience delays and should seek alternate
routes. The eastbound ramp from the Queensway to Highway 427 will be closed
during the 2009 construction season. Signs will be posted in advance to
prepare drivers for closures and detours.
