McGuinty Government Boosts Road Safety In Leamington Area TORONTO, Aug. 5 /CNW/ - NEWS Leamington - the "Tomato Capital of Canada" - will soon be able to deliver produce to market on an improved Highway 77. << Road repairs to be completed by November 2009 include: - Repairing Highway 77 from Highway 3/Essex County Road 33 in Leamington to Essex County Road 8 in Staples - Adding turning lanes at the Highway 77 and Essex County Road 18 intersection >> The $15.9-million construction contract was awarded to M.R. Dunn Holdings Limited, Dunn Paving Limited & M.R. Dunn Contractors Limited of Tecumseh. During construction drivers on Highway 77 will share a single lane during the day, as directed by a flag-person (http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/traveller/constructionzone.htm). Drivers can also use Essex County Road 31 as an alternate route to bypass the construction zone. Signs will advise drivers of the construction and the alternate route. "Drivers want timely repairs and safe roads. Funding is distributed based on the municipalities' share of Ontario's road network in relation to population. - Since 2003, the McGuinty government has committed $9.3 billion in highways, roads and bridges and invested $6.2 billion in public transit.
