Gananoque River Bridge On Highway 401 To Be Repaired

    McGuinty Government Infrastructure Improvements Continue

    TORONTO, Sept. 12 /CNW/ -

    NEWS

Ontario will repair the Gananoque River Bridge on Highway 401 to improve
road safety for the more than 27,000 drivers who use the bridge each day.
Work includes repairing and re-coating the steel on the bridge, as well
as various bridge concrete repairs. This preventative maintenance is part of
Ontario's commitment to keep bridges safe across the province.
The $1.6-million construction contract was awarded to Veolia ES Canada
Industrial Services Incorporated of Hamilton and is expected to be complete by
the fall of 2009. No traffic delays are expected during construction. Access
to the recreational trail under the bridge will remain open. The trail will be
separated from the work zone with fencing. The trail will be closed for short
periods when the contractor needs to move equipment.
