McGuinty Government Congratulates York Region Police Officer TORONTO, Feb. 26 /CNW/ - NEWS A York Regional Police officer is being recognized for his work with kids and his programs aimed at engaging youth. Detective Constable Garry Vosburg, a youth coordinator and community liaison officer, is this year's recipient of the Bud Knight Award, recognizing commitment and dedication to youth, above and beyond the call of duty. Vosburg was chosen for his many contributions to the community, including work in developing several programs to benefit youth: << - A Law Enforcement Education program that reaches out to suspended or expelled youth - York's first bicycle patrol unit targeted at making sure kids were riding safely - The Great Maple Cart Derby, working with parents and kids to make safe race carts using primarily scrap materials. Vosburg, a black belt in judo, has also engaged youth in a variety of sport activities including baseball, soccer and hockey.
